Mental Health Hygiene

Tree branches cut out in the outline of a brain

Mental health hygiene is the concept of doing some daily practices that can improve your quality of life. It can help you bring order into the day to day

fluctuations we experience in our lives. A lot of the activities we share are to help you relax, reduce stress and are mindfulness practices we encourage each month.

Some of these practices are:

Meditation, Stretching, Walking, Deep Breathing, Journaling, Gratitude exercises, and Self-compassion.

Here are some tips for practicing mental health hygiene:

Get regular exercise

Eat healthy, regular meals and stay hydrated

Make rest and sleep a priority

Set goals and priorities for yourself

Practice gratitude

Stay connected with family, friends and your community

Spend time in nature

  • Set aside 15 minutes of your day, preferably at the start of your day to do at least one of these mindfulness activities

  • Experiment with different activities to find the ones that help you feel calm and lower stress

  • Be present and try to really pay attention to what you are doing

  • Focus on the sensory experiences associated with the activity

  • Try our Open Up  30 Day Wellness Practice

Remember it all is a journey. Here's to our mental health!!
