Sick Policy for Open Up

Ed Lead Colton stands on the sidewalk in front of Open Up's studio welcoming all to come inside. The sunlight makes the studio look bright and the window design look colorful.

Welcome to Open Up's Lawrenceville Studio. We prioritize the health and wellbeing of our participants and staff. In the spirit of wellbeing - take a look at our Sickness Policy.

At Open Up, the health and safety of our staff, students, and community is our top priority. Our studio serves individuals with diverse needs, including those with disabilities and immune-compromised conditions. To maintain a safe and inclusive environment, we ask everyone to adhere to the following sickness policy:

General Guidelines:

  1. Stay Home When Sick: If you are feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms of illness, we kindly ask that you refrain from coming to the studio. Taking time to rest and recover protects you and our community.

  2. Consult a Doctor When Necessary: If you are exhibiting specific symptoms, including but not limited to fever, persistent cough, shortness of breath, other flu-like symptoms, and/or a rash, we may request that you consult with your healthcare provider. This step ensures you are cleared to return to work or participate in classes safely.

  3. Visible Symptoms: If you come to the studio with visible symptoms of illness, such as coughing, sneezing, or nasal congestion, we ask that you wear a mask to help protect others in the space. Masks will be made available at the studio if needed. If unable to wear a mask please provide a doctor’s note stating you are not contagious.

  4. When to Return: You can return after you have been fever-free for 24 hours. If you have been diagnosed with COVID you may return to the studio 7 days after you started feeling sick (as long as you’ve been fever-free for 24 hours). If you have lice, do not come to Open Up until your treatment is finished.

  5. Notification: Please contact Megan or Tessa as soon as possible if you are feeling unwell or have been diagnosed with a contagious illness. Early communication helps us take appropriate steps to ensure everyone’s safety.

For Staff:

  • Symptom Monitoring: Staff members are encouraged to self-monitor for symptoms daily. If you experience any concerning symptoms, please inform management immediately and stay home until you are symptom-free or cleared by a healthcare provider.

  • Return-to-Work Protocol: Depending on the illness, we may request a doctor’s note confirming that it is safe for you to return to work.

  • Hygiene Practices: Continue practicing good hygiene, including frequent hand washing, use of hand sanitizer, and regular cleaning of shared spaces and equipment.

For Students:

  • Class Attendance: If you are feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms, please reschedule your class for another time. We are happy to accommodate rescheduling needs to prioritize your health.

  • Mask Usage: If you attend class with visible symptoms, we request that you wear a mask during your time in the studio. This small step can make a big difference in protecting others.

Additional Precautions:

  • Enhanced Cleaning: Our studio maintains a rigorous cleaning schedule, focusing on high-touch surfaces, equipment, and shared spaces.

  • Air Quality: We use air purifiers and ensure proper ventilation to maintain a clean and healthy environment.

We appreciate your cooperation in following this policy. By working together, we can create a safe, welcoming, and healthy space for all members of our community. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Thank you for being a part of Open Up!
